Customer reviews
I wish I read the reviews
by .. L. Natanian (Los Angeles, CA)
I only wish I had read the reviews here prior to purchasing the camera, and once again prior to sending it in to Samsung warranty when my camera stopped functioning and the lense was left protruding from the casing. Samsung warranty only pays for one (1) way shipping, so to use it you will have to pay for shipping (which cost me $5.60 using USPS).
The problem with this camera is that it does not like regular batteries (I was using Energizer Alkaline). You will need to purchase the expensive Lithium-Ion kind or similiar (Nickle-Cadium?) which cost substaintially more than their alkaline counterparts. Since this camera requires more power to work, from more expensive batteries, the cost of ownership of this camera rises proportionately. After reading the reviews here, the tech support for Samsung could have easily asked me to try the more expensive batteries seeing how it was such a common problem with this camera–or at least their own tech-support site could have listed it more precisely. I really feel cheated by purchasing this camera because it was simply misleading to claim it runs on regular AA batteries when it fact it doesn’t. How would you feel if you bought a car and later found out the car doesn’t even turn on unless you put in 100octane gasoline (race-fuel) which is not only more expensive to buy but hard to come by?
I don’t recommend this camera what-so-ever to anybody for any reason. If you so happen to receive one as a gift, quickly re-gift it to somebody you don’t care for or give it to charity before you’re in the middle of your family vacation only to be left without a camera.
Not good picture quality
by .. Kate (Northern Virginia)
My boyfriend bought me this camera for my birthday. I had been wanting a new digital camera to replace my old Fuji Finepix, which I had for four years. He just went to the store and picked something out, no research on it or anything. The camera was OK at first, but it does suck away batteries. I purchased rechargeables for it after a month or two. You have to have rechargeables for it, otherwise you will waste so much money on batteries. I’ve owned the Samsung for about a year and a half, and I just think the picture quality is awful especially shooting indoors or in lower light. The only time I got decent pictures is outside on a sunny day. I recently put some photos onto a flash drive and had them printed out at Costco. They really looked awful. Even playing around with the settings, trying higher pixels, etc. did not help picture quality. I would not reccommend this camera, I plan to go back to a Fuji or a Kodak.
Awesome Camera

This is the second one I’ve purchased of it’s kind. Purchased one for my son’s 18th birthday. He loves it, takes great photos, extremely easy to use. Sharp, crisp quality even when enlarged to 8×10 or greater. Small compact size makes it a top choice. Just bought one for myself, to use when traveling since it is so compact and has low power consumption. I upgraded to rechargeable batteries and can take over 400 photos on a single charge. I definitely recommend it.
horrible camera
by .. Lisa on Whidbey (Whidbey Island)
I got this before Christmas last year. It has gone thru a ton of batteries…the good quality digital ones. After using it a few times it started to have a bright white screen when I would turn it on. Nothing like grabbing your camera to take a candid shot and not being able to. At first tapping it on something worked, now it just stays white, when it will even turn on. It is a horrible camera and I would not suggest anyone purchase it.
Zoom Problem
by .. Tracy D. Clark (Akron, Ohio United States)
Be leary!!! Although it takes wonderful pictures, this can’t be denied.. it has a problem w/the zoom lense. I protected this camera at all cost, never dropped it, kept in case. One day I try to take a picture, the zoom lense freeze!!! Have to constantly pull out before taking a picture. Warrenty was gone and it cost $100 to fix it. Best thing to do is replace, I won’t be investing in a Samsung Camera again
