Customer reviews
Easy to use pocket camera, but needs good light
by .. Sam ()
It works as advertised. I use it as a go anywhere back-up to my DSLR. Given the amount of pixels crammed onto the small sensor the image noise is pretty unacceptable above ISO 200. I bought this particular model over many other ones in part because it had the lowest pixel density available. Movie mode works pretty well, and the wide angle lens starting at 28 mm equivalent is good.
Nice POS but Poor Lens
by .. V. Pham ()
As a first time Canon owner I was pleased by the picture quality of the 870IS. It does everything I wanted a POS to do… except one small thing. This camera has broken on me twice in the span of 6 months with the same problems (lens error). After a while, the lens will not retract when turning off and then the auto-focus is permanently blurry.
Not too good with flash
by .. W. Wong ()
Mostly fine except for the flash.
The reaction time for the flash is slow.
It took the picture more than a sec after I press the button.
Also, the lighting (color) of the pictures is not that good when using flash.
Great camera
by .. Kim Fudge ()
It is very user friendly, even for those camera illiterate people. Takes great pictures and video
Poor Service
by .. P. Morgan (Camdenton, MO)
We purchased two of these for our daughters. Both had screen problems about 11 months into use. We had purchased one from Best Buy and extended warranty covered. The other we sent to Canon for warranty service. They did not cover under warranty & want to charge $150 to repair. Will not buy Canon again except from Best Buy…
